TICKET UPDATE: Melbourne Storm vs Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
Sunshine Coast Stadium is currently working closely with Queensland Health to finalise arrangements for the upcoming Melbourne Storm vs Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs match on 8 August 2020.
Sunshine Coast Stadium can confirm there will be a significant reduction in crowd numbers.
Sunshine Coast Council Manager, Major Sports and Community Venues, Grantley Switzer said sales for this event started a few weeks ago and were based on a capacity of 6000 people.
“In light of these new circumstances and what we feel is now appropriate for the venue, we are reducing numbers,” Mr Switzer said.
“We stopped selling tickets mid last week for this game when we became aware of new COVID-19 active cases in South East Queensland.
“Yesterday we started a voluntary refund system where those who had purchased tickets were given the offer of ‘opting out’ and receiving a full refund. This has been taken up by a number of people.
“We will now start the process of reducing numbers further. Patrons who purchased their tickets last will be contacted directly by Ticketek to be advised that they will not be able to attend Saturday’s game and given full refunds. This is regretful and we do apologise to those who will receive this advice in the next 24 hours.
“There is a possibility that there will be another phase of refunding tickets later in the week, however this will be dependent on advice from Qld Health.
“Regardless of the final advice from Qld Health, we are committed to delivering a safe event and this action to start refunds to patrons is being done to allow some people who have purchased tickets to the game on Saturday as much notice as possible that they will not be able to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions.”
Sunshine Coast Council and Sunshine Coast Stadium thank people for their co-operation and adhering to COVID Safe practices.
