The Wompoo Fruit-Dove is a riot of colour. I found this one feeding in a fig tree at the Noosa Botanic Gardens. These birds are classified as vulnerable in NSW but secure here in Qld. They only raise one chick with each nesting, so they are far from prolific breeders. They are, as you might have guessed, named after their distinctive call.
Tony has worked as a filmmaker, artist, author, photographer and media lecturer. He has also been a Councillor on both the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Councils, as well as Mayor of Noosa.
