Live Music Returns to Eumundi School of Arts

Live music is returning to the Eumundi School of Arts with The Dawn Light – an exciting new project by vocalist Angela Iimura & bassist Oj Newcomb.

The School of Arts has been temporarily closed since 18th March 2020 due to COVID-19. The Dawn Light’s performance on Friday 11 September is a welcome opportunity to once again open our doors to offer a high-quality live music performance for our community.says Donata Page, President of the Eumundi & District Historical Association.

Bassist Oj Newcomb is well known by locals performing as part of the John Butler Trio, Afro Dizzi Act and the Band of Frequencies. With the Dawn Light, Oj has teamed up with his wife – vocalist Angela Iimura – to perform songs that have been inspired by the great mystic poets – Hafiz and Francis Brabazon.

Influenced by artists such as Erykah Badu, Ledisi, Allen Stone, Emily King, D’Angelo, Jill Scott, Jon Cleary, Joao Gilberto and Antonio Carlos Jobim, The Dawn Light’s sound is angelic, playful, moving and deeply soulful, paying homage to these great poets. This combination of musicians, words and music will inspire your heart and soul to dance.
