SCARLET HONEYEATER
Bird Life with Tony Wellington
The Scarlet Honeyeater is a spectacular little bird and the most brightly coloured of the local honeyeaters. They forage high up in the trees from where they make a sweet, silvery high-pitched call.
As so often happens in nature, it is the male who sports the red garb, while the female is largely dull grey-brown. This is the smallest honeyeater native to Australia, but thankfully quite plentiful around these parts.
Tony has worked as a filmmaker, artist, author, photographer and media lecturer. He has also been a Councillor on both the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Councils, as well as Mayor of Noosa.
