TUNNEL : STREET ART PROJECT – Curated by Karen from 4562 Eumundi Online Mag and former Generator Gallery Curator
Curatorial statement:
The Art in the Tunnel has arisen from the idea and notion of:
Yesterday – once being a legal street art tunnel and environmental concerns of what could be yesterday’s fauna and indeed yesterday’s community (the community being artists – graffiti and street artists, locals, and art lovers) renowned street artists who have practiced in the community (Yesterday). (Represented by many artists that may have practiced their craft in the Abandoned Eumundi Butter Factory, who will become part of yesterday, but are still part of today, and continue to inspire tomorrow’s youth and arts community.
Photo: The Tunnel before the project, revealing many years of graffiti and street art layers
Today – recognising the importance of street art in the community and today’s recognition of fauna, ideals and contemporary art to explore this including promoting today’s art scene, our connection with spiritual and environmental precepts. The connectivity of the artist to the contemporary issues, including environmental issues as portrayed through their art and demonstration of today’s art medium/methods (aerosol, stenciling, freestyle art)
Tomorrow – moving forward to protecting our native fauna and flora as well as our arts and the combination of art exploring the meaning of connectivity, together with contemporary arts practice including street art within community, including the rebirth of art in this case street art, as a notion or metaphor of rebirth and tolerance of our creative Eumundi community towards a great tomorrow.
Culminating in all directions Pointing to the North (Up) and a positive community direction to “Shine On” – Shine Forth.
Forward motion to our positive future.
